A more spacious stay for those who prefer room to settle in, calm and connected to the coast.

Your own space to retreat, relax and cool off in a private plunge pool. A more secluded escape.

A villa with the ocean in front of it. The most private way to be this close to the water.

See Beeralu
Around Wadduwa
A temple at the river mouth, a garden one of the Bawas spent his life on, and a cave older than almost anything else on the island.

The Gangatilaka stupa stands over the river mouth, and unlike almost any other it is hollow: you can walk in and look up at the inside of the dome.

The sand along this coast is a nesting ground for sea turtles, and hatcheries sit a short way down it. Evenings in season are when to go.

Bevis Bawa spent most of his life turning a rubber estate into this garden. His brother Geoffrey shaped modern Sri Lankan architecture; Bevis did much the same with planting.

A mansion begun in 1896 for a local mudaliyar, its plans said to follow an Indian palace. Columned, ornamented and open to visitors.

A vast natural rock cave, among the largest of its kind in Asia, named after the Chinese monk Faxian. Excavations here produced some of the oldest human remains found in South Asia.
